Strange week of mixed fortunes.
.
My gig at the Anglers got cancelled because of the heat wave. In actuality it got up to about 36C in the afternoon and not the expected 41C.
.
Still hot and my wife for one was glad I didn’t have to play for five hours in the baking sun. Could well have been tough!
.
Put up my latest song on Soundcloud. Hey Now is about Covid and restarting our lives after a crisis. It was also one of the last songs written when the band was still with me. We never got around to recording all the heavy guitars – which may have been a lot of fun – but I ended up doing all the metal riffs myself. I actually played the drums on this one too. (Sorry, Mark!)

Worst luck of all, on Sunday I broke my mixing headphones. Yes, my hyper expensive SONY mixmaster bass-boosting super=jobbies just snapped.
.
I tried to keep working but one ear kept falling off. Even gaffa taping it into place didn’t work. Had to give up mixing my latest song (Don’t Walk Away) and order some new Sennheiser 280s which won’t be here till the end of the week.
.
Okay, it will give me a chance to write more but I missing the whole playing and mixing experience already – it’s my favorite place – being inside the music, making the sounds, creating the melodies and the rhythms, shaping the stereo image, singing my heart out, and getting everything to sound perfect.
.
Ah well, I’m sure there’s a reason for it all.
.
Anyway, be happy this week.
